Vertical Caving, Training Weekend
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for a superb experience this weekend. The training facility at Ullswater is superb and allowed me to find my feet so to speak in a controlled environment. The caving on the Sunday was awesome, challenging, but doable is probably the right description. Rest assured, I will be back for more caving, and when I am ready, more training. Thanks very much
I have been meaning to email you all week and haven’t seemed to stop long enough to write it :)
Thank you very much for our caving experience, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves down there, and had such a laugh doing it! You have been so helpful right from my first email to you and you filled me with such confidences that we travelled 4 hours to cave with you :0)
We all definitely want to cave some more in the future so you just might hear from me again!
Again, Thank you very much.
Take care, cant wait to see the photos!
Jess and my fellow cavers :)
Intro to Caving/Mining, Derbyshire
We had a brilliant day yesterday and the last minute change of plan was not a problem for us at all. We felt as though we had a really good chance to experience potholing for the first time and definitely would like to have another day underground. We were also thinking of doing some climbing with you in the summer.
We are all really looking forward to seeing the photos.
Thanks again for a terrific day and hopefully we will see you for another adventure soon.
Best regards
Nat
P.s. thanks for the tea and cakes.
SRT Training Weekend
Thanks Iain, We had a great weekend – we all learned a lot, enjoyed it and felt stretched without being scared which was fantastic. We’ll definitely give you a shout at some point about doing a rigging course.

The disk arrived today – thanks a lot. It brings back all the memories of the brilliant day I had down a cave in the Derbyshire! I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t stop talking about it even now. Your professional tuition, excellent knowledge, sensitive guidance and encourangement all made it a very fulfilling event. I really enjoyed your company too (plus the cakes)and who knows – I may be back again next year!
Thanks again for everything.

Intro to Caving, Yorkshire
A fantastic day exploring the Longchurn network in the Yorkshire Dales. Myself and my partner left with a real sense of satisfaction and a desire to return! So much variation to explore, underground waterfalls and a wide variety of rock formations meant that we never knew what to expect next.
Iain’s passion and knowledge made the day much more interesting than just crawling around underground! All the equipment was provided and we felt extremely safe at all times, but it was definitely an adventure.
We’d recommend this day to couples, groups of friends, corporate parties or families as it can be tailored to suit varying fitness levels and with Iain’s amazing indestructible camera we also have some memories of our day. Can’t recommend enough. *Nicola & Rez, London *
Hi Iain,
Hope everything’s okay. Just wanted to say (a bit later than intended!), thanks again for the caving experience – we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely come back again. We were actually considering potholing next year, but plenty of time left to arrange that!
Jon
“Myself and my two children did a one day intro to caving with Gocave.com in the Yorkshire Dales, visiting the Longchurns system.
It was the most enjoyable and physically challenging day. We finished the day with smiles (despite the appalling weather) and an incredible sense of achievement.
We came to the day with an appetite based on show-cave visits, needless to this was a very different experience, in the most positive way. The Longchurn system was an excellent mix of atmosphere, geology and challenge for us novices, all of this made so much more meaningful by our excellent guide (Iain) whose enthusiasm and positiveness led us around even the more taxing obstacles with good humour and no serious event. This was furthered by his obvious passion and general knowledge of his subject. The day became so much more than mere physical activity…… geology lessons, archeological discovery and so on. All of this combined to make one incredible day, one that this family will not forget for a very long time, thank you Iain/Gocave.com.
We will definitely be back, we are already considering what (and where) our next adventure might be; we really hope that we will be able work with Iain again.
Everyone should experience caving like this at least once in their lives.
Thank you again.
Graeme, Courtenay and Quentin.
“Some friends and I booked a one-day beginners caving course with Gocave.com at the end of June 2009. This was part of a long camping weekend spent in the Lakes & Yorkshire. None of us had any prior experience so we were pretty much ready for anything!” Caving definitely turned out to be the highlight of the weekend for all of us. We met Iain, our guide/instructor, at a cafe in Ingleton for a full English (essential fuel for caving!) and a briefing on what was to follow.
The briefing was interesting and covered all bases – giving us a good idea of what to expect and how the day would pan out, as well as a bit of a geology lesson on the formation of Longchurns (the cave system we were about to visit). After getting kitted out in full caving gear, we headed into Longchurns through one of the many entry points and began our adventure! We probably spent around 2-3 hours in the cave system, exploring most of the different tunnels and features that make up Longchurns. Thank you.
Iain was a brilliant instructor – giving us informative details about how all these features had been formed, and also giving us the opportunity to try out certain more challenging routes through the cave system, most of which proved to be a very tight squeeze! The routes we took included a good mixture of different activities, including crawling/ squeezing through some tight spots, having to do some climbing/ scrambling in places, and visiting some large cavern sections where the opportunity to stand up was appreciated by everyone!
When we left the cave system late that afternoon, we were all on a high after such an exciting experience, and have already spoken about the possibility of coming back next year for some more caving action. Thanks Iain for such a great day! Highly recommended!”
All the best,
Jon
